June 3    USA – ROME      Depart USA for Rome.

June 4   ROME - ASSISI      Arrive Rome and bus transfer to Assisi.  Dinner and overnight.

June 5 - 6   ASSISI  During our stay in Assisi we will be welcomed by the Benedictine Sisters of St. Joseph at their beautiful guesthouse.  It offers stunning views of the Spoleto Valley from its rooftop terrace and flower garden.  The historic location is near an ancient fountain where St. Francis dramatically stripped himself of all worldly possessions and gave himself only to God.  While in Assisi we will have Mass at his crypt tomb in the Basilica of St. Francis and visit the museum of his relics and stigmata.  At the Basilica of St. Clare we will pray before the cross that came alive to speak to Francis and see the incorrupt body of St. Clare in the crypt.  We will pray at the tiny Portiuncola Chapel where Jesus and Mary appeared to Francis; the Blessed Virgin called "her most favored Church."  There we may receive the plenary indulgence of Our Lady of the Angels that St. Francis managed to obtain from the Pope for all who visit there on pilgrimage.  Visits include San Damiano, the amazing Carceri Hermitage, the stable where Francis was born and the house where he lived.  Over these days we will have the opportunity to experience the deep peace and beauty of Assisi.

June 7   ASSISI - ROME    Depart for Rome.  During our stay in Rome, we will stay very close to the Vatican at a wonderful Carmelite guesthouse.  After check-in we will visit the Borgo Pio and break for lunch.   After lunch we will have the rare opportunity to visit the ancient underground excavation and catacombs of the Vatican with the professional Scavi tour guide.  Here we will see with our own eyes the actual bones of St. Peter the Apostle.  A tour of St. Peter Basilica will follow and then free time before dinner.  After dinner we will take a relaxing stroll by the splashing fountains of St. Peter's Basilica, the lighted Castle of St. Michael and the Tiber River.  We will stop for refreshing gelato (creamy Italian ice cream!) on the Borgo Pio and savour the night ambiance of Rome.

June 8   ROME (PAPAL BLESSING)  After breakfast we will be present to greet Pope Benedict XVI and to receive his Papal Blessing at St. Peter's Square.  Later we will visit the Church of the Santa Scala and ascend the steps brought from Jerusalem that Jesus is said to have climbed as he stood before Pontius Pilate.  After a stop at the famous Roman Coliseum, we will celebrate Holy Mass at the Basilica of St. Maria Maggiore, the oldest Church dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and venerate the holy relic of Jesus' manger from Bethlehem contained there.  One will note the stunning marble colors of the Church, as well pray before an ancient icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary said to have been painted by St. Luke.  After dinner we will take an evening stroll to visit the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain and toss a coin, hoping to return to Rome some day.

June 9   ROME - MEDJUGORJE     After breakfast and private Mass at St. Peter Basilica, we will have a private guided tour of the Sistine Chapel and explore the beauty of the Vatican Gardens.  Lunch and free time to relax or visit the cafés and many religious article stores near the Vatican.  Transfer to Rome's Airport to catch an early evening flight to Split, Croatia. Transfer to Medjugorje by us. Dinner and overnight in Medjugorje.

June 10 – 14    MEDJUGOJRE      Each morning after breakfast, we will  attend Holy Mass in English at 10:00am. We will visit the  visionaries for a talk. We will climb "Podbrdo" (The Hill of the  Apparitions). We will climb "Mount Krizevac" (Cross Mountain)  through the Stations of the Cross. We will also have the opportunity  to go to talks offered by the parish priests. One day, we will take  an excursion to the Historical Franciscan Monastery of Siroki Brijeg  for a talk and healing service with Fr. Jozo Zovko.

June 15   MEDJUGORJE – USA      Morning departure, arriving back to USA in the afternoon.
